The Year Ahead in Travel, Colombia, France and Beyond.

Howdy!

We're only 12 days in to 2016 but it is already shaping up to be a very exciting year for me on the travel front. In the last week of January I will be boarding a plane to Colombia, specifically the Caribbean coast of the country and then in June I will be heading to Euro 2016 in France, which will mark my first visit to a football tournament so of course, I am very excited!

The France trip for Euro 2016 is still in development, we have tickets for two games in Marseilles and half of the accommodation booked via AirBnB but the rest is an open book- we are still waiting on the right flights. If anyone has any tips let me know!

As per tradition #LOT16 will be taking place towards the end of the year and Copenhagen has been muted as a possible destination. However Colombia is pretty much all completed, all I need to do now is not miss my flights!

As this trip has been put together pretty hastily I do not know that much about Colombia, especially the Caribbean coast so this trip will very much be a learning experience, although I kind of like showing up to places a little unprepared for what to expect; it guarantees that you need to be open to what your destination has to offer.

I am taking the trip to Colombia with my partner, I'm lucky in the sense that she is happy to chance our arm a little bit in regards to accommodation the same as me. We have arranged to visit Bogotá, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Minca and the island of San Andres, which I am particularly excited about as a massive beach bum! With less than two weeks to go preparations are pretty much where they need to be. Vaccinations are all done apart from Yellow Fever which is due this week, snorkelling equipment has all been purchased (from the very helpful Dive90 in Cheltenham). The only thing I am behind on is losing that Christmas weight - but its probably not often the locals get to see a beached whale!

Anyway, that was a brief intro in to my year ahead, if any of you have any exciting plans this year do let me know in the comments!

Happy New Year and Cheers for reading,

Jon.
